Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, has a population of more than three million. It is not only Australia’s oldest and largest city but also its chief manufacturing centre and business port as well as the largest centre for selling

Besides, Sydney is also a city with 30 golden beaches nearby. In Sydney if you say you are going skiing, it often means water-skiing. If you are going to Kosciusko, you are probably going snow-skiing.
The harbour of Sydney is spanned (横跨) by the famous arch bridge and
overlooked by dramatic new Sydney Opera House. The Opera House has great white curving (弧形的) roofs and is described as one of the great buildings in the 20th century.
There are old classic buildings in Sydney as well, such as St James Church, Hyde Park Barracks and Parliament House. Of course there are also modem skyscrapers.

Since their strongest connection has always been with family, when it comes to friendship, the French seem to be more careful than the British. A Frenchman may be ready to start a chat with a stranger in a train or café and a discussion with feelings, but the speakers will remain unknown to each other by name; personal questions are not asked in most case.
The British and Americans are certainly more open than the French when meeting new people, developing them quickly into friends, asking them home, and calling them \"Bill\". The French themselves admit that they are careful in developing new friendships in a society still based on mistrust(猜疑), and much talking has to be done before this mistrust disappears.
Yet the French consider the British-American style of so-called friendship to be lacking in depth. The French do not make true friendships lightly, and most of these are formed in youth, or slowly over the years among co-workers. Once made, they will be lasting and faithful. But except at a higher executive(行政的) level, office co-workers do not often try to meet each other socially, and casual friendship is seldom seen between workers of different grades. This can make life lonely for anyone who arrives to work in a new town, especially Paris, without existing friends. However, the pattern has been changing in the past ten years, especially among younger workers and in new-style offices open to American methods.

My First Year at College
本题答案: My first year at college was a bit of busy and exciting. Everything was new and I had a lot to learn about. For example, there were so many student
clubs at college that I even did not know in which I should become a member. The most important thing was that the ways of teaching and learning were different from that in high school. The students were expected not only to learn the
textbooks but also to read as many reference books as possible by themselves. I spent a long time adapting myself to the college life. Once I was accustomed to the environment at college, I tended to like the college life. Such was my first year at college.
